UG Induction Programme: 2022-23 batch

Event On 13th Feb, on the auspicious occasion of International Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon’s Day An induction programme was conducted on 15th February 2023 at the auditorium of government dental college and hospital, nagpur. Dr. Abhay Datarkar, Dean, GDCH Nagpur inaugurated the programme and adressed the gathering. Dr. Datarkar emphasized the importance of induction programme for the students. Dr. Jyoti Wankhade welcomed the Dean with a floral bouquet. Entire programme was organized by the UG Academic Curriculum Committee under tha able guidance of Vice-Dean,Academics Dr. Wasundhara Bhad. Dr. Akshay Dhobley welcomed all the guest speakers and introduced all the faculty of GDCH, Nagpur. Freshers, also introduced themselves. Freshers presented their role play on the glimpse of first BDS students. At the end of programme, the review and the feedback was taken by UG Incharge Dr. Suryakant Deogade.

Event On 13th Feb, on the auspicious occasion of International Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon’s Day On 13th Feb, on the auspicious occasion of International Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon’s Day, Government Dental College and Hospital , Nagpur hosted an exciting array of events to spread awareness about pertinent topics such as Road traffic safety and primary trauma care. It was organised by the Department of Oral and maxillofacial surgery under the guidance of our dynamic dean Dr Abhay Datarkar Sir and executed by the head of the department Dr Prashant Pandilwar Sir and Dr Varsha Manekar Maam . Great enthusiasm was shown by the junior residents of the department in the planning of the event to the every last detail. A day prior on 12th Feb free dental extractions were done in the below poverty line areas in the Nagpur in service of the general public and to spread awareness of the branch of oral and maxillofacial surgery. Today the event began with the speech about awareness and road safety protocols and the importance of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery in the society by Dr Varsha maam who then Felicitated the acting dean Dr Bhad maam who was standing in for Dr Datarkar sir who could not be present for the occasion, but his inspirational presence could be felt amongst all of us. Then Dr Vandana maam felicitated Dr Pandilwar sir . This was followed by a fun quiz competition for the under graduate students. After which the crowd dispersed for a bike rally to spread awareness about road safety particularly in terms of seat belt wearing and helmet wearing while driving to prevent road traffic accidents . Finally the day ended with the OMFS themed collage making competition for under graduates. The event was a tremendous success enjoyed by all . The valedictory function for quiz and collage making competition winners will be held on 14th Feb in the presence of our Dean , Dr Abhay Datarkar Sir .

Herbal Tree plantation at GDCHN

Event Herbal Tree plantation at GDCHN On occasion of first anniversary of Herbal Garden in Govn Dental College & Hospital Nagpur, NSS unit organised herbal tree plantation by Hands of Dean. Dr. Abhay Datarkar in presence of all officers and Staff. Generic and common names were plated near all trees for students education and motivation. ” students should take advantage of herbal garden in their research for ayurvedic and holistic approach in Dentistry ” Dean further motivated students to nurture the garden for pleasant atmosphere around. On occasion senior staff Dr. Manjusha Warhadpande, Dr. Sulabha Radke, Dr. Khatri, Dr. Deogade, Dr. Bahaddure, Dr. Gondivkar, Dr. Motghare, Dr. Bhoyar, Dr. Hegde, Dr. Damayanti were present. Vote of thanks presented by NSS incharge Dr. Yogesh Rathod while miss. Jyoti, Ankita, Prajakta, Gauri, Mast. Kalpesh, Umesh, Nandkishor, faizan took efforts for conduction of program.

Event 1st LinkNxt pg activity of year 2023 was held on 03/02/2023. 1st LinkNxt pg activity of year 2023 was held on 03/02/2023.For this event Dr Ramreddy Yeltiwar Sir and Dr Neelam Pandey Ma’am were present as Chief guests and subject experts,Dr Sulekha Gosavi introduced the guests, Dr Wasundhara Bhad Ma’am felicitated Dr Neelam Pande Ma’am and Dr Mangesh Phadnaik Sir felicitated Dr Ramreddy Yeltiwar Sir, followed by interactive interdisciplinary case presentation by post graduate students of Prosthodontics dept on Rehabilitation of post covid mucormycosis treated patients and case series on preparation of alveolar ridge for implant retained Crown and Bridge by dept of Periodontics, then dept of Periodontics release the poster, all HODs, fellow colleagues and PG students from all department were present, Dean Dr Abhay Datarkar Sir addressed the gathering, Dr Ramreddy Yeltiwar Sir who was poineer of PG activity at GDCH nagpur appreciated and congratulated for new changes in activity according to NAAC requirement and Dr Neelam Pande Ma’am also appreciated for presntation, and congratulated Dean Sir and his team for the recent development in GDCH.

Undergraduate Research Methodology Workshop at GDCH, Nagpur

Event Undergraduate Research Methodology Workshop at GDCH, Nagpur The predoctoral undergraduate students are young and have energetic mind and enthusiasm. They need mentorship and training to carry out the research. At Government Dental college and hospital, Nagpur, Undergraduates are encouraged and trained for this very purpose. Fourth Undergraduate research methodology workshop was conducted in GDCH, Nagpur for properly imbibing research principles on sixteen January 2023. The workshop was inaugurated by Dean Dr. Abhay Datarkar. He mentioned UG research uniqueness of this institute and explained about ‘Choose your guide’ as freedom of students to contact any teacher as research guide. Organizing chairman Dr. Varsha Manekar and Organizing Secretary Dr. Sachin Khatri planned and executed this training. Dr. Kiran Tawalare from Shri Ayurvedic College and Dr. Saee Deshpande From VSPM Dental College were the invited faculties. The other experts in biomedical research were from GDCH Nagpur namely Dr. Varsha Manekar, Dr. Darshan Dakshindas, Dr. Ashita Kalaskar, Dr. Sachin Khatri, Dr. Shubha Tawani. The topics were Scope of Research, Types of studies, Protocol Writing, Biostatistics, Ethics, Questionnaire preparation and Literature search. Students were trained in an interactive and friendly manner. Forty-eight undergraduate students were participants. The majority students were from first BDS. These students are prospective researcher for the ICMR’s, STS, MUHS’s, STRG funding, Avishkar, and for presentation at various conferences. The ultimate result of research will be publication to various journals in future. The seven ICMR STS students selected in 2022 were also felicitated. These students have completed research and submitted research report to ICMR. They were guided by the faculty of the college. In the feedback of this workshop participant rated all sessions as excellent. The workshop was organized by Research and Development cell, DET cell and IQAC. Dr. Wasundhara Bhad, IQAC, and Dr. Gosavi, Chairman R & D cell, were present for the program. Organizing team was Dr. Gadve, Dr. Bhoyar, Dr. Tawani,. The program was conducted by Dr. Priyanka Shetty and Dr. Pooja Umathe.

Dental students gave an innovative message through the festival of kite.

Event Dental students gave an innovative message through the festival of kite. On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, the students of Government Dental College flew kites and gave an innovative message about oral health.More than 100 kites on which various messages related to oral health were written were launched into nagpur skies. These kites carry messages about the ill effects of tobacco, dental hygiene etc. Dean Dr. Abhay Datarkar, in-charge of student council Dr. Vaibhav Karemore along with all teachers and students were present on this occasion.

Event National Youth Day National Youth Day was celebrated today on 12 th Jan 2023 Organised by Department of Oral Pathology, Guest Speaker – Dr. Eesha Thakare Spoke on the theme ” विक्सित युवा विक्सित भारत” , and motivated the students to put their best for the profession.

Event Government Dental College and Hospital, Nagpur Government Dental College and Hospital, Nagpur has unveiled one of its kind blended learning classroom and Innovation Council Incubation Center. Both these projects were inaugurated by Honourable Dr. Ajeet Gopchade, Management Council Member at MUHS, Nashik on 29th December, 2022. Major focus of this initiative is to create a vibrant local innovation ecosystem and create a platform for students to help them build startups. Blended learning classroom is the innovative idea of visionary dean Dr. Abhay Datarkar which allows students to actively involve and be part in teaching learning process. Under the leadership of dean Dr. Abhay Datarkar, Institute is heading towards participating in Atal Ranking of Institutions on innovation achievements framework. This initiative will establish a function ecosystem for scouting ideas and pre-incubation of ideas helping students to develop better cognitive ability. The Institute will organize periodic workshops/ seminars/ interactions with entrepreneurs, investors, professionals and create a mentor pool for student innovators. Chief guest Dr. Ajeet Gopchade was captivated to see the blended learning classroom and also the innovative projects displayed by the students in the incubation center. The institute has created an Innovation portal to highlight innovative projects carried out by Institution’s faculty and students. In his speech Dr. Gopchade appreciated the efforts of Dr. Abhay Datarkar to leverage the innovation in higher education raising the Institute to match with global standards. Dr. Vinky Rughwani, President of Thalassemia Society of Central India and Dr. Ravi Vairagade were the guests of honour for this programme. Vice deans Dr. Wasundhara Bhad and Dr. Mangesh Phadnaik extended their guidance and support for organizing this event. Staff members Dr. Santosh Chavan and Dr. Jyoti Manchanda worked hard to make this programme a great success.
