International Yoga Day 2023 was celebrated by Government Dental College & Hospital

Event International Yoga Day 2023 was celebrated by Government Dental College & Hospital International Yoga Day 2023 was celebrated by Government Dental College & Hospital, Nagpur on 21st June 2023. The guest faculty for the program was Miss Priyanka Dongre, Certified Yoga Instructor. The program was conducted in the hostel premises and was attended by staff and students. Miss Priyanka Dongre conducted an enjoyable yoga session and motivated everyone to practice yoga regularly for better physical and mental health. The program was successfully organised under the guidance of Dean, Dr. Abhay Datarkar by members of Yoga and Wellness committee. The program was successfully conducted by Miss Prachi Parate.

Dr. Ashita kalaskar who is the PHD incharge guided about the PHD course rules and regulations , examination pattern and credit based system for evaluation of students. Academic Dean Dr. Wasundhara Bhad mam briefed about the PHD course and also addressed the PHD scholars about their curriculum. Lastly Dean Dr. Abhay Datarkar enlighten all the PHD scholars about their responsibilities. sir emphasize on importance of grants and funds for carrying out their research effectively and he also briefed about intellectual properties like patents and copywrites. He discussed ways by which PHD scholars can improve in their curriculum. Sir congratulated everyone for joining the respective PHD courses.

Sir congratulated everyone for joining the respective fellowship courses.

Event National Oral Medicine and Radiology day was celebrated on 24.4.2023 National Oral Medicine and Radiology day was celebrated on 24.4.2023 at Government Dental College and Hospital, Nagpur following the guidelines issued under the Oral Health Mission , “Swacch Mukha Abhiyan” . The following events were organized 1. Camps for school children – Oral screening and awareness camps were conducted in 3 different schools in Nagpur. A total of about 481 children were examined and interviewed for their tobacco related habits. Children were educated and counselled against hazards of tobacco habits. The camps were conducted by Dr. Pavan Motghare, Dr. Shailesh Gondivkar, Dr. Shweta Gangotri and PG students of OMR department. 2. Rangoli competition was organized for school children on theme “Ill effects of tobacco on health”. 3. Newspaper article in Lokmat by Dr. Ashita Kalaskar, Professor & HOD, Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, GDCH Nagpur, regarding importance of oral health and oral cancer prevention. 4. Received 25 essays from Ayurveda Colleges on the topic ,”The use of ayurvedic preparation in dentistry” for essay competition. 5. An informative lecture on “oral cancer: A preventive approach through ayurveda” was delivered by Dr. Rachna Ramteke, Associate professor, Dept. of Pediatrics, Shree Ayurvedic Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur.

Event on 01/04/23, Yoga and Wellness session was conducted in the GDC Nagpur on 01/04/23, Yoga and Wellness session was conducted in the GDC Nagpur Auditorium from 7:00 am to 8:30 am, faculty being Dr. Manjusha Warhadpande and Co – ordinator Dr. Pallavi Sonpimpale. Mr. Rahul Hardas, an enthusiastic yoga teacher and mountaineering instructor, graced the occasion and guided the students. The session was attended by 56 UG and PG students. They also performed short plays on the topic – Environment conservation.

In the lecture he made all interns aware about the need of an oral health policy to reduce oral health burden. He also introduced Maharashtra Swach Mukh Abhiyan, how did it came in existence, it’s blueprint and all the future activities that will be carried out and how will it benefit public as well as dentist in future. It was a informative and motivating lecture.

National Cons Endo Day is celebrated every year on 5th March

Event National Cons Endo Day is celebrated every year on 5th March This year various programs were organized on 3rd March to celebrate Cons Endo Day in Government Dental College and Hospital, Nagpur.# Renovated preclinical Conservative Dentistry laboratory was inaugurated by Dean Dr Abhay Datarkar in presence of Vice Deans Dr Vasundhara Bhad and Dr Mangesh Phadnaik. Dean Sir acknowledged the hard work of Head of Department Dr Manjusha Warhadpande along with Head of Department (Prosthodontics) Dr Arun Khalikar, purchase officer incharge Dr Ritesh Kalaskar and preclinical staff members Dr Shubha Hegde and Dr Yogesh Rathod. # The outline of programs for the entire day was conceptualized and explained by HoD Dr Manjusha Warhadpande. A patient education role play was organized with Dental Trauma as the central theme. This informative session educated about the various precautions one must take to avoid trauma to teeth and the first-aid measures to be taken if in case trauma occurs. Dr Jyoti Wankhade guided the team of undergraduate students who gave an impeccable performance. # Postgraduate student Dr Priya presented cases treated in the department in last year and explained various treatment aspects of managing traumatic injuries to teeth.# Check ups were carried out throughout the day and patients were explained the benefits of tooth colored restorations i. e Composite,GIC. Few patients gave their testimonials about how the department managed their dental injuries.# Interns were give hands-on demonstration on restoration using Direct filling Light cure composite resins and a competition was also conducted by Dr Sulbha Radke and Dr Prateek Khandale. Dr Neha Patil was the judge of the competition and Dean Dr Abhay Datarkar gave the prizes and appreciated the efforts by interns and staff.#Dr Darshan Dakshindas proposed the vote of thanks. Dr Meenakshi was the MoC for the function. Dr Kunal, Dr Anjali,Dr Rajesh,Dr Snehal,Dr Aditi,Dr Abeera ,Dr Shilpa and all non teaching staff members of the department worked hard for the success of the event.

Event 3RD BDS WHITE-COAT CEREMONY and GDC FOUNDATION COURSE-CLINICAL ORIENTATION PROGRAMME: 2022-23 The white coat ceremony and gdc foundation course-clinical orientation program for 3rd BDS students was conducted on 28th February 2023 at the auditorium of government dental college and hospital, nagpur. Dr. Abhay Datarkar, Dean, GDCH Nagpur inaugurated the programme and adressed the gathering. Dr. Datarkar emphasized the importance of white coat ceremony and clinical orientation for the third year BDS students. Dr. Jyoti Wankhade welcomed the Dean with a floral bouquet. Entire programme was organized by the UG Academic Curriculum Committee under the able guidance of Vice-Dean,Academics Dr. Wasundhara Bhad. Dr. Akshay Dhobley welcomed all the guest speakers and introduced all the third year students. He then welcomed Dean and all the HOD’s on the stage for OATH-TAKING.Dean Dr. Abhay Datarkar read the oath and all the faculty and students followed him. Third BDS students,also presented their role play on the glimpse of third BDS students after entering from preclinics to clinics. At the end of programme, the review and the feedback was taken by Dr. Suryakant Deogade and Dr. Jyoti Wankhade.
