Event WORSHOP ON ‘TEACHING-LEARNING METHODS’ AS FACULTY DEVELOPMENT AT GDCH, NAGPUR Government Dental College and Hospital, Nagpur is one of the prestigious dental institutes producing excellent teachers, academicians and researchers in the faculty of dentistry. Development and training are the continuous and systematic process. Any institution’s future depends on their faculty’s knowledge, skills and expertise. The process of training should necessarily be directed to build attitude towards teaching and developing teaching skills and give every faculty a sense of professionalism, excellence. So, faculty development program is essential to achieve institution’s major and long-term goals. The Teaching-Learning methods have drastically changed in present time. They have to be student centered and technology based.The four days long Capacity building and faculty development , workshop on Teaching-learning methods was organised at GDCH, Nagpur.The Aim was to strengthen the faculty profile and Teaching-Learning process. All the faculties of GDCH participated in the workshop.The workshop was inaugurated on 24th June, with opening session by Dr. Shubada Gade (DMMC, Nagpur). Dr Sunita Vagha ( DMIMS, Wardha ) explained on Self Directed Learning. The 1st July session on Qualitative studies, Power of Feedback as TL tool, and Problem based learning in dentistry were taken by Dr. Rakhi Tripathi ( KEM Mumbai ), Dr. Swapnali Kadam ( RG Medical College, Thane ), Dr Saee Deshmukh ( VSPM, Nagpur ) respectively.Brigadier B K Varghese delivered on Simulators as TL tool on 8th July. On the same day Dramatics as learning tool and Interactive Classroom Teaching were taken by Dr. Rameshwari Singhal ( King George Medical University, Lucknow) and Dr Veena Nayak (Kasturba medical college, Manipal ) respectively.15th July was the concluding session. Dr. Chinmay Saha, a well known national faculty from GMC, Bhavnagar took extensive session of 4 hours on ‘ Use of Technology in creating E content ‘. The Dean Dr. Abhay Datarkar talked on the e – learning, facilities in College and on planning of “Blended learning” for institute. Dr Varsha Manekar co-ordinated and arranged this program under guidance of Dean of GDCH. She explained the implementation of new teaching learning module planned for the institute. Dr. Bhad and Dr. Vandana Gadve worked for the program.
