[ B.D.S] PROGRAMME

The Undergraduate BDS program started in the year 1968, under the umbrella of RSTM (Rashtra Sant Tukdoji Maharaj) Nagpur University. In the year 1998, it got affiliated to MUHS (Maharashtra University of Health Sciences), Nashik. Throughout all these glorious years, GDC Nagpur takes pride that the admission process is purely based on merit and has produced illustrious alumni. The main reason for the success of graduates from this institute is that the BDS programme is a wholesome combination of academic activities and personality honing exercises. The five major pillars which form the foundation of the BDS programme are:

The Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme aims to produce exemplary oral health care providers capable of delivering patient-centric care of the highest standard with compassion and responsiveness using contemporary technology under a systematic structured format. The BDS programme has a curriculum approved by the Dental Council of India to produce work-ready dentists for the future.

The graduation programme is “Outcome and Competency” based. Students are taught how to track their own progress in achieving the outcomes and competencies through formative assessments where students learn through feedback received of their performance. They can then discuss their progress with their personal mentors who will guide them to plan their progress and take appropriate remedial actions to get back on track where it is deemed necessary. Thus, personalisation of the learning path through excellent mentorship support develops learners into independent, resilient, caring and compassionate dentists.

“Learning Module System” is the hallmark of the BDS curriculum that prepares graduates to be work- ready for Online/Offline quizzes, questions and assignments. The Student portfolio reflects on their achievements and learning in the semester with collection of evidence of achievements and their learnings. Students also have summative assessments to measure their progress of learning in the form of continuous assessments and professional examinations at the end of designated semesters. Numerous University toppers and students qualifying for higher degrees throughout the years are a strong testament to the efficiency of our academic module.
