Department of periodontology and implantology, deals with various conventional, modern and advanced periodontal treatment modalities required for maintenance of oral health and management of periodontal diseases.
  

Periodontal therapeutic techniques like scaling, root planing, coronoplasty, splinting and local drug delivery along with conventional and advanced surgeries are routinely performed by undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as teaching and clinical staff.

Admission for postgraduate degree course in periodontology of GDCH Nagpur, is a much sought-after branch by dental graduates through-out the country, with three MUHS approved PG teachers in the department. PG students get ample opportunities to perform and gain expertise in various periodontal surgical techniques like flap surgeries, periodontal plastic surgeries, Implant surgeries, Bone grafting procedures, GTR, LASER assisted surgeries, sinus and ridge augmentation over the course of their academic tenure.

The department is an MUHS approved center for three seats of PhD course in periodontology with one professor approved as PhD guide. The department has also applied for a fellowship course in implantology for approval by MUHS, to be started in coming academic year.

The department regularly conducts various CDE courses and programs, seminars, workshops and symposiums. World oral health day and oral hygiene day are celebrated every year with great enthusiasm in the department. 41^st National Conference of Indian Society of Periodontology was successfully co-hosted by the department in the year 2015.

The department also runs MUHS approved fellowship course in Oral Implantology with five faculties as MUHS approved mentors from this academic year with a capacity of 10 fellows.
