National Oral Medicine and Radiology day was celebrated on 24.4.2023 at Government Dental College and Hospital, Nagpur following the guidelines issued under the Oral Health Mission , “Swacch Mukha Abhiyan” . The following events were organized

1. Camps for school children – Oral screening and awareness camps were conducted in 3 different schools in Nagpur. A total of about 481 children were examined and interviewed for their tobacco related habits. Children were educated and counselled against hazards of tobacco habits. The camps were conducted by Dr. Pavan Motghare, Dr. Shailesh Gondivkar, Dr. Shweta Gangotri and PG students of OMR department.

2. Rangoli competition was organized for school children on theme “Ill effects of tobacco on health”.

3. Newspaper article in Lokmat by Dr. Ashita Kalaskar, Professor & HOD, Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, GDCH Nagpur, regarding importance of oral health and oral cancer prevention.

4. Received 25 essays from Ayurveda Colleges on the topic ,”The use of ayurvedic preparation in dentistry” for essay competition.

5. An informative lecture on “oral cancer: A preventive approach through ayurveda” was delivered by Dr. Rachna Ramteke, Associate professor, Dept. of Pediatrics, Shree Ayurvedic Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur.
