The Department of Research Cell of Government Dental College and Hospital, Nagpur is consistent in making efforts for a creative , supportive and conducive environment for research amongst the students and faculties of this institution. It was established as per directives of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik for imbibing the concept of research in minds of young undergraduates and postgraduates, PhD scholars and faculty members.
Over the last few years, the researchers of this institute have been engaged in quality research and development projects, thus leading to the significant increase in the number publications per year in the International database.There has also been a noted increase in copyright and patent & design filing by the researchers owing to the initiatives and support provided by the research cell. GDC is proud to proclaim that it is at par with the best institutes and universities in the country. Our Researchers have received the prestigious STRG and LTRG grants from MUHS, Nashik. Our aim is to focus on enhancing facilities for grant submission and international collaborations on priority basis.

This department works at a grass root level, aiming at training budding dentists, our under-graduate students for research and innovations. We conduct the Basic Research methodology workshops for UGs regularly in order to orient them and inculcate a creative thought process in them. Trainings of Basic as well as Advance Research methodology, Systematic review and Meta analysis, Bioethics are regularly conducted for PGs, PhD scholars and staff in order to assist them in their endeavours. Each new idea of research is reviewed, supported and encouraged by eminent members. Before presenting their proposal to the IEC, researchers are nurtured by the research cell to consider all aspects, to overcome obstacles and to receive subject experts opinion. The collaborative working with specialised institutes like NEERI, VNIT,LUCID INTERNATIONAL etc is also encouraged and supported. GDC believes in promoting research that would directly benefit the society. MOU with Tribal Department for Precancer , Cancer Screening , Treatment & National Oral Health Programme for Pit & Fissure Sealents & Flourosis management with Ministry of Health & Family Welfare are the distinct research programmes GDC is involved in with Govt Of India with a view of providing service to the society.
